MONETRACK is a lead Affiliate Base Provider in Japan. They provide advertisers with an effective marketing solution through its Japanese affiliate network and tools, including payment and online marketing solution.

MONETRACK's desired result was to ensure they could securely scale their operation of more than 4 millions affiliates links processed a day.

A system that was unable to scale securely and effectively could harm their client base.

MONETRACK wasn't happy with its legacy system because of some ongoing issues:

* Unnecessarily complicated architecture that couldn't be scaled effectively
* Inconsistency with our client's online security guidelines
* High TCO costs
* Not scaling effectively

Advertisers rely on MONETRACK system to effectively track their ads and their expenses as well as to affiliates to track their revenues. A system that was unable to scale securely and effectively could harm their clients base.

MONETRACK was relying on an infrastructure that did not offer scalability, security and was not optimised for growth. The infrastructure did not offer any flexibility when it came to Disaster Recovery or High Availability. And if the system would to go down, MONETRACK would lose revenue and potential clients of their own.

The Process

Run their tests without any impact in the production environment

‍

After meeting with the MONETRACK team and going a thorough evaluation, we proposed a phased approach that met their team schedule so we could start improving their Infrastructure.

In our first phase, the objective was to establish a Sandbox (Integration) environment for tests with a robust VPC network segmentation to enhance security as well as to give them the ability to run their tests without any impact in the production environment.

In addition, we optimised their application to enable them to run using Spot Instances resulting in a reduction of up to 90%.

We have then replicated the complete production dataset in this new Sandbox environment and ran a set of performance tests to identify which metrics and resources were required to support our MONETRACK business growth.

Once we established the correct metrics, we had a migration plan resulting in minimal downtime in order to move all the resources to the new AWS infrastructure we setup.

With the new Infrastructure in place, MONETRACK gained the ability to scale with confidence. Having an infrastructure far more stable, scalable, highly available, secure and cost optimised.
